Microsoft Responds to IE8 Feedback

In a previous article about Internet Explorer 8, we mentioned the multiple rendering modes that would be available, and are now happy that Microsoft has changed their stance based on web developer community feedback. The default rendering mode for IE8 will now be the most standard compliant mode, not the IE7 compatibility mode as previously stated. That is good news for web progress, and means Microsoft is taking standards seriously. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.

    For those interested in testing, Microsoft has made Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 available here.

    As always, it’s a beta, so expect things to be broken. I was also surprised that toggling to IE7 compatibility mode required restarting the browser…
