WordPress has a great feature for those of us who aren’t perfect. It’s called Revisions. It’s available for both pages and posts on the edit screens. It allows comparison of the current saved version of content to a previous version. This is especially helpful for those times when the page was perfect before an accidental keypress wreaked havoc on the page shown in the editor. All is not lost. Simply click on the linked date in the revision area from before the chaos started and a screen appears showing the code from that date. You can then click the “restore” link from the list at the bottom of the page to return the page to its earlier state. For the truly adventurous who want to see exactly where things went wrong, there is a “Compare Revisions” button that will highlight the differences between the two revisions you select.
The pageMash plugin makes organizing WordPress pages as easy as dragging and dropping. It also allows easy renaming of page titles as well as the ability to hide pages in any site navigation widgets that use the wp_list_pages function. (most of our themes).
It also provides a convenient “edit” button so you can jump right into editing a page.
To rearrange your pages, just drag and drop them where you want and click the “Update” link at the bottom right of the page. It’s that easy! We activate the PageMash plugin by default on our new sites, it can be found under the “Pages” menu. Give it a try today!
Those of you who frequent our friendly web space may not have missed the fact that we recently launched a newly redesigned wesconet.com. True to form, the new design utilizes WordPress with SiteControl to deliver its powerful content management capabilities. It uses a hybrid design of pages and posts to deliver both chronological and more static content. The site features an easily managed rotating banner area that pulls content from a category of posts. It also utilizes the RSS widget to grab Advisories from other sites. Don’t be surprised if you see a shopping cart of sorts pop up here in the future. If you haven’t already, poke around the new wesconet.com and tell us what you think in the comments.
So many web users can improve their experience substantially just by reconsidering their most fundamental web tool… the browser. Unfortunately, many users do not even know what a browser is. The Official Google blog has a short blog post that addresses this. There is even a video that explains what a browser is and provides links to popular modern browsers.

Today, AAA Federal Credit Union’s new WESCO Net Web Services-designed site was launched. The new site is built on the WordPress platform with SiteControl and includes the usual plethora of features that are available as part of the open-source WordPress platform as well as the CU-specific tie-ins of our SiteControl plugin. AAA FCU opted to go with a unique theme and therefore this theme will not be available as one of our library themes. The major design feature is a night time shot of downtown South Bend, IN. The new site is search engine optimized, includes a standard mobile theme for viewing on most portable devices, and improved statistics tracking with Google Analytics.
