Today marks the launch of a new site generation for CUSOLaw.com based on our WordPress with SiteControl platform. The site design is largely unchanged, but benefits from the various features of the new platform such as site search, RSS feeds, Podcasts, and the usual Content Management (CMS) capabilities. Special thanks to Guy Messick of CUSO Law, and his team, as well as Michele Featherstone of Marketing Insightz for work on the content.
All of our hosted WordPress with SiteControl site have now been updated to the latest greatest WordPress release 3.0. The new version includes many new features to the backend that are primarily developer centric, as well as a number of optimizations/bug fixes/security improvements. For a full list of changes visit the WordPress Codex. We’ve tested the release prior to deployment to minimize any downtime for sites, but as always, let us know if you notice anything not quite right.
We came across an interesting web resource at http://uxmyths.com that examines the way typical users approach web design by exploring myths like “most users don’t scroll” and “more choices result in higher satisfaction.”
“UX Myths collects the most frequent user experience design misconceptions and explains why they don’t hold true. And you don’t have to take our word for it, we’ll show you lots of researches and articles from design and usability gurus.”

Wednesday, July 7th, we will be making an email server configuration change to improve the security of the SMTP (Outgoing) email authentication process.
You should verify that your email client has the “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” setting checkbox UNCHECKED.
This setting is not needed and will cause the problem if it is checked. You shouldn’t need to make any changes if you followed the setup in our Email Setup Guide.

CU*Answers Web Services has a planned maintenance window on Tuesday morning (6/15/2010) from 5:00 am – 8:00 am EDT. Client websites and email services may experience intermittent downtime during this window. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Monday at 6pm we will be migrating the remaining sites from our recently troublesome wh2.wesconet.com shared hosting server onto the upgraded hardware of wh4.wesconet.com. Since we will be moving the IP address along with all the site contents and mail it should be a transparent move. We will be disabling mail services on the server for a few hours Monday night during the maintenance, but any external email messages sent during that time should be delivered once the migration to the new server is complete. We plan to have the migration completed before start of business Tuesday. Thank you for your patience. We are confident that this upgrade will result in improved performance and uptime for your web and email services. Any questions or concerns should be directed to Web Services.
Update 9:30pm: The migration process is ongoing, we hope to be finished within the next several hours.
Update 11:40pm: The migration process has been completed. Please contact Web Services if you have any question or concerns. Thank you for your patience!
