Malicious “resume.html” Email Warning

We’ve had a few reports of an email going around today as follows. Please be careful to delete the message if you receive it, and do not open the attached html file.

Message: “Attached, please find”
Subject: “Resume”
Attachment: “resume.html”

Subject: Resume

Opening the attached file will redirect your web browser to a variety of pages that try to infect your computer with various attacks, as well as likely compromising your address book. If you do open the file, immediately close your browser with ALT+F4, or ctrl+w. Do not click anything in the browser window that looks like a cancel or X button.

Hosted WordPress with SiteControl Updated to 3.0.1

Today all of our hosted WordPress with SiteControl site have been Updated to the freshly released bugfix release 3.0.1. To see the nitty gritty about which bugs were squashed, visit the official WordPress Trac site. As always, we tested the release before we rolled it out to your sites, but please let us know if you notice any unusual behavior.

Update to Mobile Site Online Banking Links

Beginning this week, our mobile sites that link to It’s Me 247 will now link directly to the Mobile Web Banking version of the site, rather than rely on mobile device detection occuring in two places. This will help provide a more consistent user experience. As always, users can still chose to view the full web version of either site at any time.

CUSOLaw.com migration to WordPress with SiteControl

Today marks the launch of a new site generation for CUSOLaw.com based on our WordPress with SiteControl platform. The site design is largely unchanged, but benefits from the various features of the new platform such as site search, RSS feeds, Podcasts, and the usual Content Management (CMS) capabilities. Special thanks to Guy Messick of CUSO Law, and his team, as well as Michele Featherstone of Marketing Insightz for work on the content.

Hosted WordPress with SiteControl updated

All of our hosted WordPress with SiteControl site have now been updated to the latest greatest WordPress release 3.0. The new version includes many new features to the backend that are primarily developer centric, as well as a number of optimizations/bug fixes/security improvements. For a full list of changes visit the WordPress Codex. We’ve tested the release prior to deployment to minimize any downtime for sites, but as always, let us know if you notice anything not quite right.

We came across an interesting web resource at http://uxmyths.com that examines the way typical users approach web design by exploring myths like “most users don’t scroll” and “more choices result in higher satisfaction.”

Shared Hosting Email Settings Change

Wednesday, July 7th, we will be making an email server configuration change to improve the security of the SMTP (Outgoing) email authentication process.

You should verify that your email client has the “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” setting checkbox UNCHECKED.

This setting is not needed and will cause the problem if it is checked. You shouldn’t need to make any changes if you followed the setup in our Email Setup Guide.

Outlook 2007

In Outlook 2007, under Tools, select Account Settings.
Select your account and click the Change button at the top.
Now select the More Settings in the bottom right.
Then under the Outgoing Server tab, make sure the first box is unchecked.

Update 7/8: The changes have been completed.
