The JPG file format compresses a photograph’s information to reduce the file size. Usually, it’s not noticeable to the average viewer, and it’s what makes jpegs good for photographs delivered over the web. But, there still is compression and loss of detail going on.
So what happens when you save a jpg over and over again 600 times?

This is why you should always save your source artwork. Just like the 30th generation photocopy, the quality diminishes with each revision. And once the information is gone, there’s no going back.
